GODCHILDREN KEVIN JER DAVID ‘09 and ORVEN JULES DUMAOANG ‘09 WINS THE FOURTH GRAND AWARD in the TEAM CATEGORY (Grand Prize in the Plant Sciences Category) of the  INTEL INTERNATIONAL SCIENCE and ENGINEERING FAIR 2009, Nevada, USA,  for their research project “Screening for Quorum Sensing Inhibitors from Surface Assisted Bacteria of Halymenia Durvillaei”.

The research project studied how disease-causing bacteria ‘communicate’ and how to disrupt said ‘communication’ so as to prevent the bacteria from being resistant to antibiotics. The project was done as a course requirement in Science and Technology Research under the guidance of teacher Kent Kawashima ’04.
