Help nurture the passion for excellence! Help keep the ‘LAGABLAB’ aflame!!!

The Philippine Science High School Foundation, Inc. (PSHSFI)

Incorporated on February 11, 1978, the Foundation was organized by parents, with then PSHS Director, Dr. Celofe M. Bacungan, concerned about the high attrition rate among teachers who were being pirated by private schools.

As envisioned, the Foundation bridges the gap between available government funds and the actual financial requirements needed by the school to maintain its educational excellence. It is registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission accredited by the Department of Science and Technology and by the Philippine Council for NGO Certification and affiliated with the Ayala Foundation.

The Faculty Assistance and Development Program, funded by the various Teacging Chairs, has since provided merit awards for the teachers in the form of monthly honoraria and given grants for research, gradutae studies and for attendance at conferences and seminars.

In 1979, the Godparent Program was started to help the financially needy students. Today, the funds of the program come from godparents who donate the monthly stipend of their chosen child.

The Foundation also supports the other needs of the students by funding: attendance in workshops; participation in competitions; and the Math Camp. Programs intended to foster well-roundness and holistic development are being developed.

Albeit very minimal at this point, the Foundation also helps with the infrastructure needs of the school, thus completing its involvement in the whole gamut of PSHS operations.

We have to contend with the limitations imposed by the current low interest rates and the need to fund the activities and projects that the school, the teachers and the students come to us for help.

Together with the school, we are making a needs list which will make the facilities up to date, at par with the best in the world.

We come to you to help us achieve our goals and dreams for the students, the teachers, the staff and the school, including celebrating thePSHS Golden Anniversary, hopefully in 2014 grandly in a new Gym!

Word from some Beneficiaries

GODPARENT PROGRAM

“I would like to thanks the PSHS Foundation, -one of the reasons why I am what I am today. I would also like to thank the parents, alumni and volunteers who out of the goodness of their hearts are willing to share a part of themselves to students who need most. Their soft-heartedness served as an inspiration to me and to my co-godchildren to study harder and hold onto our dreas.”- KARMINA AQUINO

Karmina is one of 72 godchildren (in SY 08-09) who received additional monthly stipends and other financial  assistance from the program. The stipends come from godparent-donors. The program involves godparent-godchild interaction, leadership training through the Godchildren Organization, motivation to excellence through the Achievement Awards and opportunities for recreation and entertainment.
